Two days ago my EMIL phones. She is asking about gifts options for Thomas. During the course of the conversation she says, no one knows but Pop (my EFIL) was concerned about his heart. He went to the doctor and he is fine. No one knows but you, me, and Pop.
SERIOUSLY! You’re telling this to your ex-daughter-in-law and asking to keep it quiet.
So here’s my dilemma:
1) if I don’t tell Adam and he finds out, don’t you think he will be hurt?
2) if I do tell Adam, did I violate trust with my EMIL thus giving her more proof as to why I shouldn’t be part of her family?
And what’s the payoff for her? Was she just babbling? (Which is not unusual) or was there an agenda? (Which is also not unusual)
I’ve solved this issue by blogging about it. If Adam reads this then he knows and I have no worries. If he doesn’t I have no worries. Either way, this doesn’t affect me.
Please do not take this post as indifferent to my EFIL. He has always been a generous person. While he may want the world to spin I his preferred direction, he has never been mean spirited towards me (except before we were just married, but his anger was out of his youngest son moving away). This man lied to his wife to cover for his granddaughter. To me, that’s impressive.
No this post is about my EMIL. I can’t figure her out. And quiet frankly, I don’t want to.
